So you made a New Year’s Resolution?

New Year's Resolutions,
Proverbs 1:7

The page has turned
the slate is clean
you have opened a
crisp new notebook,
words unwritten.
Anticipation for the
possibilities
resolutions are set
determination to
do better.
Words are chosen
as guideposts
goals are
created.

But be kind to yourself
when you fail
when the marks left
on the page
smudge.
Start a new paragraph
but keep writing
your beautiful
story.

It’s not so much about
perfect forward
momentum
as it is
start-overs
do-overs
pick-ups
dust-offs
begin-agains
and grace.
It’s only when we
stop trying that
we fail.

And all of our efforts
to achieve,
become,
grow and develop
are like mighty
power turbines
without wind,
if we seek them
outside of the
strength and
wisdom of
God.
