I want to be wise
not in a know-it-all
I told you so
listen to me
way
I have made a few rotations
around the sun
I know more than
I did as a child
and yet less
every day
An old man, made wise by his days
once said, “don’t be too
stupid to take good
advice”
I want to be wise enough
to listen, to keep
learning, to hear
not just my own
babble
I want to be wise enough
to know I could be
wrong, room to
make positive
change
Such wisdom looks like
humility, not pride
It is kind, not abrasive
It gives a hand up
It doesn’t crush
Sometimes wisdom does
not need to speak.
Put your Hand over
my mouth, God
lest my foolishness
is revealed
Where can I find wisdom?
More than knowledge
More than theories
More than facts?
Teach me Your wisdom Lord
For your foolishness
Is wiser than all the
Wisdom of man
Your weakness
Stronger
Than anything
This world
could
Organize.
