Fear has many faces

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Trust is the freefall that fear will

keep you from making

Fear is not a respecter of persons
it comes on the young
and the old,
the scholar and the
unlearned
It doesn’t care where you are;
in paradise or in
purgatory,
a palatial home or
in a hovel.

Fear sucks the joy from
the living
and leaves a fragile
shell of a soul,
paralyzed by the
past,
powerless to move
forward.

Fear, it is a liar
It will remind you of all
your failures
and whisper that they
define you.
Fear points out all your
missteps,
it triumphs in your
misery
and holds you
hostage.

Fear claims its power
and tells you that
you will always be a
victim,
never free from the past
always tethered to
the ugly that
crushed you.

Fear, he is a liar
he has many faces;
Indifference,
Indecision,
Insolence.
He can look like anger,
depression or
anxiety.
But in all his guises
he steals your
peace.
You fear that the people
in your head
are right,
that you may not be
enough
that their assessment
of you is truer
than who God
says you are.
That you are a fake,
pretender,
a pharisee
not forgiven and
redeemed.

Will God’s grace be
enough?
Can you secure your all
to His
faithfulness?
Is He still working in
the silence?
Trust is the free fall
that fear will keep
you from
making,
never believing
that the Almighty God
is big enough
to catch
you.

But perfect love
it casts out fear,
as far as the east
is from the west,
so far
will it be removed.
It
Will
Be
Removed.

Perfect love,
only the Father’s love;
the love poured out
red
trumps fear
declaring you free
from its
grip.
