No room, no time, no hope
The people were all busy.
They dragged themselves from their beds when the sun came up and fell exhausted,
into sleep at night.
They scurried around all day with their planners, schedules, meetings, deadlines and appointments.
So busy creating a good life.
And when work was done, they searched for things to fill in all the empty spots.
They scrolled, they played, they watched, they listened …
always their minds were entertained.
And tomorrow would repeat. They had no time.
They did not want time; time to reflect on things
like God.
The Christians were all busy.
They dragged themselves from their beds when the sun came up and fell exhausted,
into sleep at night.
They scurried around all day with their planners, schedules, meetings, deadlines and appointments.
So busy working for God, that
some forgot to pause
and kneel.
They planned the Sunday school programs,
the worship for the service, meetings with the elders, organizing, organizing, organizing…
they were depleted and had no time.
No time to be still
before God.
In His divine wisdom, God allowed a pandemic
to fall on the people.
Suddenly the people
had time.
And the people started crying out to God saying,
“where are you?”
I am Immanuel,
God with you.
And God gently replied. “Do you remember when I came to you as a tiny baby?
You had no room for me back then either.
You fill your days and squeeze Me out.
I have loved you with an everlasting love
but you are too busy to take notice.
Now I have given you the gift
of time.”
“Notice how I paint the mornings with pinks and oranges.
Feel the importance of the human love I provide.
Reflect on the sure Hope and message of Christmas.
Make room in your heart
for Me.
I am Immanuel,
God with you.
Come bow in
adoration
and stillness.
I give peace.”
